Additively Manufactured Components Inserted into Operating Commercial Nuclear Reactor Core

During the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Browns Ferry refueling outage in April 2021, safety-related AM components were inserted into an operating commercial nuclear power plant’s reactor core.

The TCR program, partnered with the Tennessee Valley Authority and Framatome, designed and built four additively manufactured brackets, which were used in the installed fuel assemblies.
